As you are all aware, the various challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have been with us for more than 18 months and we continue to have to live and work with the effects of the on-going impact. Whilst we do try to remain positive, we do expect an on-going impact to continue for some time to come. It is therefore important to be as transparent with our customer base as possible.
A significant part of the impact facing the industry is the global surge in demand for electronic components compounded by lockdowns, industrial actions and reduction in sea and air freight capacity. This has seen a significant increase in lead times and prices across the supply chain. In some instances, component manufacturers’ lead times are now more than 50 weeks or beyond.
As Powerbox Australia sources both Power Supply Products and Electronic Components from all over the globe, we are starting to see an impact with Manufacturers having to increase both pricing and lead times due to significant increases in both cost base and availability of components. Powerbox therefore anticipates changes in pricing and availability over the coming months as Manufacturers pass on the effects of these price rises and shortages. Whilst our Team will do everything possible to minimize this impact including strategic stocking of equipment, we do see impacts on both pricing and availability of products as inevitable.
In order to help buffer the impact of both pricing and shortages we request that our valued customers wherever possible assist us with forecasting future requirements for product. This greatly assists in aiding our business to plan and minimize impact on both lead-times and pricing.
